Pregnancy counseling with Dr. Ginsburg gives you the opportunity to learn a holistic health approach to your pregnancy and how to prepare for birth. Your partner’s presence is encouraged. At these sessions, she is able to address:
There is a window of opportunity in the few months before conception to significantly improve the quality of the pregnancy, actual conception and the health of the baby.
Challenges to these things can include the toxic load of the mother-to-be, nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, diet and lifestyle habits, undiscovered medical issues related to pregnancy, and lack of an experienced elder to give early support.
Imbalanced stress hormones (like adrenaline, if you have adrenal imbalance) can imprint on the baby, making it more inclined during it’s life to experience stress instead of peace.
A holistic or integrative approach to preconception and pregnancy focuses on creating a joyful, successful and healthy mother-child experience, including moving with sure steps into the ease of breastfeeding and mothering.
Dr. Ginsburg has the breadth and depth to optimize the mother’s health prior to conception, throughout pregnancy, and to maximize the baby’s opportunity for true, lasting health and thriving, despite the multiple challenges in our modern day culture.
She spends considerable time in a patient visit to understand your situation, but does not replace the person doing the actual prenatal care and monitoring the baby’s progress (whether that is a midwife, OB, or another Family Doctor). Although Dr. Ginsburg has delivered many babies and provided prenatal care to many, she isn’t doing it at this time.
Choice of Birth Style
Dr. Ginsburg helps you to determine if natural childbirth is a good fit for your values and needs, and what type if so.
She discusses the birth process with you. What risks would be in play for your body type, medical history, and spiritual values. Discusses with you the options of birth in a hospital, a birthing center, or at home. Would you prefer a midwife, a doctor, or both? With drugs or without? Using a portable pool of water for relaxing during contractions, or not. With friends in attendance to massage and give support, or not?
She will help to dispel myths and raise your own awareness with good quality information about the path ahead. If you choose a medicalized form of childbirth, she will help you understand the risks.
